About Lucci and Orlandini
Roberto Lucci, born in 1942, studied at the Chicago Institute of Design. Paolo Orlandini, born in 1941 in Grosseto, earned his degree at the Faculty of Architecture of the Milan Polytechnic.
Since 1968, Lucci and Orlandini have designed in two different offices that often collaborate together, but also sometimes compete—a method that has come to stimulate self-criticism and added creativity to their projects.
Specializing in the design of office furniture, chairs and kitchens, Lucci and Orlandini have created more than 250 products together for firms such as Antonelli Bontempi, Artemide, Biesse, Brionvega, Calligaris, Candy, Ciatti, Fantoni, Grazioli-Grandsolei, Knoll, Lamm, Mascagni Peg-Perego, Pirelli, Riello, Snaidero, Tisettanta and Zerowatt.
Lucci and Orlandini have taken part in various editions of the Milan Triennial and have works present in the design collections of the Museum of Modern Art of New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Chicago, the Museum fur Kunst und Gewerbe of Hamburg and of the Centre National D’Art Contemporain of the Louvre in Paris.
Lucci and Orlandini have taught at the European Institute of Design, at the Polytechnic of Milan and in numerous universities in Belgium, the United States, Australia and South America. In 1999 they published a book, “Product Design Models”, V.N., Reinhold Editore, New York.
