Studio Snaidero Chicago is proud to be a part of two winning buildings in the tenth annual Emporis Awards.

Best New Skyscraper of the Year was awarded to Aqua, followed in 5th place by Chicago's Trump International Hotel & Tower. The winning buildings were chosen from a worldwide pool of 305 eligible skyscrapers (buildings at least 100 meters tall) which were completed in 2009.

Members of the jury praised Aqua, an 81-story hotel and residential building in Chicago's Lakeshore East development, for its fascinating shape and appearance that changes dramatically depending on the perspective. It was also cited as a brilliant technical achievement for the precision of its construction, and lauded as an application of green design innovations to an extremely large building project.

Aqua was designed by Studio Gang Architects in Chicago and developed by Magellan Development Group, who will be receiving the award. The building was constructed by the James McHugh Construction Company, of Chicago.
